February 25, 2018: Paul Manafort's Shady Pals

2/25/18: A new federal indictment, issued against Paul Manafort, sends shock waves across Europe. According to law enforcement authorities, in 2012 and 2013, Manafort may have secretly paid unnamed European leaders two million euros to lobby on behalf of Ukraine, and bring it closer to the nations of Western Europe.

If that sounds like bribery – yeah – it probably is.

And if that sounds exactly like the way Manafort is known to operate, for sure, it is.

At the time, Ukraine was led by Viktor F. Yanukovych, Manafort’s main client, “who first agreed to closer ties to Europe and then reneged under Russian pressure and was toppled” in a popular uprising.

Yanukovych fled the country in February 2014, leaving behind his palace – not to mention his private zoo. He and his cronies, however, have been accused of getting away with up to $100 billion, looted from their own people.

As for the former president, he currently resides, in exile, in…Russia.

Bigtime crooks: Yanukovych, left, Vladimir Putin, right.
