December 23, 2017: Eight Entire Countries at U.N. Back U.S. Move

12/23/17: In world news the Trump decision to declare Jerusalem capital of Israel is so popular that in a vote at the United Nations, eight entire countries side with us. One is Israel. Others backing us include powerhouses Guatemala and Honduras. Also supporting us are Micronesia, Togo, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, and Palau. Admit it. You didn’t know Nauru was a nation.

Or Palau.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, warns before the vote that President Trump will “take this personally.” (Does he ever not take matters personally?) The U.S. will be “taking names” and may cut off aid to any country that stabs us in the red, white, and blue back.

It turns out “taking names” will take time. Thirty-five nations abstain; 128 condemn the move. Afghanistan votes against the United States. Iraq votes against. Saudi Arabia does too.

Still, we’re making progress under President “Merry Christmas,” now that eight whole nations are on our side.

This is a huge improvement, compared to the Trump administration’s Flat Earth position on climate change.

In that case the U.S. stood alone.
