January 1, 2019: Trump kicks off the New Year in the same fashion he ended the last. That is, acting like an ass. All he needs to do to stay out of trouble is wish everyone, “Happy New Year,” and put Twitter to bed.
By 8:28 a.m. the president has already blown his chances. His second tweet of the day is petty (no surprise) and includes one of his trademark attacks on the free press (no surprise). To make sure no one misses his point, it’s all in caps, the written equivalent of dogs yapping in the night.
