9/9/18: As recently as last week,
Trump claimed his poll numbers were “through the roof.” A poll from Quinnipiac
would lead us to question that assessment. First, Trump has a 38% approval
rating. That’s with 7 out of 10 Americans saying the economy is “excellent” or
“good.”
Six out of ten Americans say the president is not honest.
True, Republicans remain loyal, with 84% approving of the job he’s doing. But 54% of all Americans disapprove.
The internals give us some idea why his ratings remain low:
57% of Americans
do not think Trump has good leadership skills.
55% don’t think he
cares about “average Americans.”
65% don’t consider
him level-headed.
55% believe Robert
Mueller is conducting a fair investigation; 32% think he’s not.
Worst of all, did voters think the president was honest? Only 32% said yes, and 60% said no (up 6 points since July).
