December 29, 2021: Lame Duck Don Spends His Day Tweeting Furiously

12/29/20: According to Lame Duck Don’s official schedule, he is working “tirelessly” for the American people today.

“Our leaders (not me, of course!) are pathetic. They only know how to lose!”

President Not-for-Long, blasting the top men and women in his own party.

Well, for the less-than-half who voted for him, anyway. With a monomaniacal focus, he continues to battle to overturn election results. Latest fantasy on the right: The poor devil who blew himself and a good chunk of downtown Nashville to bits, is said to have been part of a “Deep State” plot. He knocked out the AT&T facility because inside they were gathering proof that the Dominion Voting Machines were rigged!

Trump and members of his cult are still convinced he won 96% of the popular vote and swept all 58 states.

TODAY, the U.S. Senate will vote. Will a second round of stimulus checks mean each and every American (below fairly generous income levels) gets a $2,000 check? Or will Mitch McConnell and his merry band of former “fiscal hawks” remember they came to office as Tea Party folk?

Then it’s $600 for you.

AFTER A HOLIDAY LULL, the death toll from coronavirus rose slightly Monday and spiked Tuesday, to near record levels.

Daily death toll:

12/28:  1,783

12/29:  3,406

Yet, on the COVID-19 front, we know the president is strangely silent. This, despite the fact his daily schedule indicates he is working “tirelessly” for all Americans, even the 81 million of us who voted for Joe Biden.

Vaccine distribution has been moving much more slowly than expected. It’s a healthcare Rubik’s cube, with all kinds of challenges, and even a normal president would find his or her days filled with difficulties.

Or you could be Trump.

Lame Duck Don continues to channel his “tireless” efforts into tweeting and demanding that he be granted a second term, even if a solid majority of voters made it clear they were tired of his ineptitude and predilection for breaking state and federal law. Also, tens of millions of us voted against him because we enjoy having three functioning branches of government, and don’t believe practitioners of the free press are “Enemies of the People.” That is: We voted against his Fascist Lite style.

Once again, Trump tried to prove on Tuesday that he deserved a second term by ignoring the challenges he faces as his first term comes to a humiliating end. That meant we got a heavy dose of furious tweeting.

To summarize the president’s output for the day, a few pungent phrases: “Weak and tired Republican ‘leadership,’” say goodbye to “our great soldiers” being brought home “from foreign lands that do NOTHING for us.” “Disgraceful act of cowardice,” get a better bill, “or better leaders, NOW!”

As expected, we had claims of rigged voting results. Four times did Trump “tirelessly” tweet on the topic. In Pennsylvania, “200,000 more votes were counted, than there were voters and “(100% went to Biden).” “All other Swing States show likewise.” “WE NEED NEW & ENERGETIC REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP.” The leaders we have only want to follow “the path of least resistance.”

Finally, to sum it up, Trump exclaimed, “Our leaders (not me, of course!) are pathetic. They only know how to lose!” Not Trump. He got many lawmakers elected, and now, “I do believe they forget it.”

As for any problems with the vaccine rollout, Trump wanted it to be clear that great leadership – like he has displayed – means washing your hands of the problem. His “tireless” tweet on the topic:

It is up to the States to distribute the vaccines once brought to the designated areas by the Federal Government. We have not only developed the vaccines, including putting up money to move the process along quickly, but gotten them to the states. Biden failed with Swine Flu!

Ah, yes, the old Swine Flu slam. Irrelevant, at best, when the overall death toll from COVID-19 stands at:

337,419.

POSTSCRIPT: Late Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blocks a stand-alone bill passed overwhelmingly by the House of Representatives. That bill would have granted millions of struggling Americans $2,000 each during this time of disease, death, and job and business disaster.
