October 1, 2021: Trump Liked to Blame Democratic Mayors for High Crime Rates

October 1, 2021: It turns out, the murder rate in the U.S. jumped by 30% in 2020, the largest increase ever, from one year to the next. Since we know Trump liked to claim credit for any positive social trend – lower cancer death rates – fewer people on food stamps – even the fact that there were no commercial plane crashes one year in this country – we should just tag him as a “law and order” failure, for this development. Also, if we keep buying tens of millions of guns every year, how come the U.S. never seems any safer?

We’ve said this before. Trump liked to accuse Democratic mayors of failure because crime rates in big cities were so high. If we adjust for population, the states with the highest violent crime rates per capita are:

1.     Alaska

2.     New Mexico

3.     Tennessee

4.     Arkansas

5.     Nevada

6.     Louisiana

7.     Alabama

8.     Missouri

9.     South Carolina

10. Arizona

Seven of those states have Republican governors, the exceptions being New Mexico, Nevada, and Louisiana.

Yet, this blogger never heard Rejected-President Trump fault Republican governors for high crime rates.

For fun, Maine (#50) had the lowest violent crime rate in 2020. Vermont (#49) came in second. The rest of the bottom ten – the safest states to live in – were New Hampshire (#48), Virginia (#47), Connecticut (#46), New Jersey (#45!!), Kentucky (#44), Wyoming (#43), Rhode Island (#42) and Minnesota (#41).

Other oddities: Trump really liked to bash Gov. Andrew Cuomo for the high crime rate in his state, and everyone in Illinois for all the crime in that state. Adjusted for population, New York (#25) was safer than Montana (#24), and Illinois (#19) was safer than South Dakota (#18.)

SPEAKING OF CRIME RATES, R. Kelly, the rapper, has been found guilty of nine assorted felonies. He shall now be forever known as a sexual predator and horrible human being. According to The New York Times, “His six-week trial exposed a harrowing system of trauma and abuse, commanded by the singer and enabled by his associates.”

Let’s just say, if you had been keeping up with the news over the years, you would not have been surprised to learn that Kelly was involved in criminal pursuits. (Bill Cosby did weigh in and say Kelly was “railroaded.”)

The blogger mentions Kelly and Cosby only because their abuse of women fit a pattern, with multiple accusers. The lack of multiple accusers in the case of Justice Clarence Thomas still makes me believe he was probably innocent (although the blogger’s wife vehemently disagrees). Sen. Al Franken? Almost surely innocent. Harvey Weinstein? Guilty. Lock him up and toss the key in the ocean. Jeffrey Epstein? Definitely guilty.

Donald J. Trump? Multiple accusers. Yea, almost surely guilty.

GETTING A Brazilian butt lift is all the rage in plastic surgery. When I google the subject, I find a place in Dayton, Ohio, where prices start at $4,250. (The typical cost is much higher, around $15,000.)

Unfortunately, butt enhancement is the most dangerous of all cosmetic surgeries, with one or two deaths per 6,000 procedures.

I mention this, simply because, if you can afford to spend thousands of dollars on your booty, you probably can afford to pay higher taxes.
