December 25, 2021: The War on Christmas is Over and a New Phony War is Brewing

12/25/21: Is the bloody “War on Christmas” over? Apparently. I went Christmas shopping last week and toys were still on sale. My neighbors have their lights up, and friends on Facebook wished everyone “Merry Christmas.”

I think the bogus war is over.

THE NEW FAKE WAR is declared. Republicans don’t want children in the public schools to be taught about “critical race theory.”

Which they never have been.

Don't blame my husband, John, of my son, John Quincy.
The Adams family never had slaves.

Do we want our students to know about the first boat load of slaves brought to these shores in 1619? Do teachers dare mention the Three-Fifth’s Compromise, or that 13 of the first 16 U.S. presidents owned slaves? Do we want students to know that the Cherokee people went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to keep their land – and won their case – and still got kicked off and sent west anyway? Do we mention that in 1860, the enslaved population in this country reached four million? Do we want our young to hear about the massacre at Sand Creek in 1864? The attack on Chinese immigrants in Rock Springs in 1885? The rounding up of Japanese-Americans, who were sent to camps in 1942? A century of Jim Crow laws? Racial differences in rates of incarceration?

As one African American on Twitter put it, “If black children are old enough to experience racism, white children are old enough to learn about it.”
