August 25-26, 2018: Trump Spends Another Weekend Relaxing at a Private Club He Owns

8/25-26/18: The president spends another weekend relaxing at one of his private golf clubs. On this occasion he stays at Trump National Golf Club in Potomac Falls, Virginia, not far from Washington.

It turns out to be a relaxing two days since no new members of his circle of relatives and/or advisers gets arrested.

Enjoying a meal at his club (and charging the federal government).

July 29, 2019: Trump Could Have Traveled to Baltimore - He Went Golfing, Instead

7/29/19: Trump is still bitching about Rep. Elijah Cummings, who is black. You figure he’d really like to say that Baltimore, with its mostly African American population, is a “shithole.”

At least he’s back at the White House for now, following another weekend getaway. According to Google Maps, Trump National Golf Club, where he stayed, is 29.7 miles from Washington D.C. It costs the Secret Service extra – some say the tab for all his golfing trips is now more than $102 million – every time the president leaves the White House to visit another one of his courses.

Which route would Trump take?

If Trump really wanted to do his job, he could have demanded that the Secret Service haul his butt in a different direction, 38.3 miles north to Baltimore for the weekend. He could have rolled up his sleeves, talked to people in poor neighborhoods, listened to their problems, and called a cabinet meeting this morning to see what might be done to address the issues they face. (See: 7/27/19.)

He didn’t do that, of course. He did make time to stop and chat with reporters on the South Lawn. He grumbled that U.S. intelligence communities have “run amok” and must be reined in, because they keep coming up with conclusions that bruise his fragile ego.

That means Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, highly respected for his work, is out.

Rep. John Ratcliffe, who has virtually zero experience in the intelligence field, is the choice to fill his shoes. Why Ratcliffe? Trump loved his performance during the televised Mueller hearings. Ratcliffe did his best to savage Mueller and shield Trump, no matter what. He’s the kind of toady Trump loves.

October 5, 2019: The Bromance of Trump and Kim Jong-un May Be Over

10/5/19: We know the president is having a tough week. Once again, he retreats to Trump National Golf Club in Potomac Falls, Virginia. There he can hunker down and tweet-hate on other Americans.

As for the need to hunker, Mr. Trump is feeling the heat of the impeachment investigation. Even a few voices at Fox News have been raised against him, as evidence of shady dealings mounts.

If Trump eats at his place in Potomac Falls, you know he charges the government to feed

himself, and Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, wearing glasses.

As a result of recent leaks from his administration, we also learn that Trump “pestered” Shinzo Abe of Japan to recommend him for a Nobel Prize – due to his brilliant success disarming North Korea – which in retrospect seems pathetic and needy. Trump reportedly told the Saudis he’d back them for admission to the G-7, rambled on in conversation with Chinese president Xi about chocolate cake, and made a fool of himself on the phone with world leaders.

In fact, much ballyhooed negotiations with North Korea, which began Saturday, ended Saturday. The North said talks broke down because the U.S. brought nothing new to the table.
