November 5, 2019: Pastor White Says God Raised Trump Up - Pastor Wiles Says It's Time to Start Shooting Liberals

11/5/19: Tuesday, 11,258 scientists from 153 countries sign an open letter, warning the other 7.6 billion people riding around on the only globe any of us have, that we’re all in trouble.

“Scientists have a moral obligation to clearly warn humanity of any catastrophic threat and to “tell it like it is.”

Open letter signed by 11,258 scientists, warning of the dangers of climate change

____________________

They explain:

Scientists have a moral obligation to clearly warn humanity of any catastrophic threat and to “tell it like it is.” On the basis of this obligation and the graphical indicators presented below, we declare, with more than 11,000 scientist signatories from around the world, clearly and unequivocally that planet Earth is facing a climate emergency.

The climate crisis has arrived, and is accelerating faster than most scientists expected. It is more severe than anticipated, threatening natural ecosystems and the fate of humanity [emphasis added, unless otherwise noted].

The science they lay out in support is complicated and extensive. Their warning is easily grasped.

“HOLY SHIT!” is what they’re saying.

Profound and sometimes wrenching social change may be forced upon us in years to come.

How to achieve those changes will be cause for serious debate.

Or we can do what President Trump does and ignore the problem completely and go play golf.

The man in the cart really loves golf.

IN OTHER NEWS, Iran announces it has started up advanced new centrifuges. This means the Iranians can more quickly produce material to construct an atomic bomb. Some experts fear they can have a nuclear weapon within a year.

Iran has also announced that it doesn’t really want to build a bomb. What Iran wants is “full implementation of the nuclear deal.” That is: the deal that was signed by the United States under Barack Obama, and by Britain, France, Germany, Russia, China, and Iran.

That was the deal Trump tore up.

Nice move, slick.

IMPEACHMENT is in the air. That means we can count on Rep. Louis Gohmert (R-Tx.) to say something asinine. On the floor of Congress, he warns that Democrats are “about to push this country to a civil war if they were to get their wishes.”

Yes, if Trump were to be impeached and removed from office it would be time for all Trump fans to grab their guns and start blazing away at anyone not sporting a red MAGA cap. “And if there’s one thing I don’t want to see in my lifetime, I don’t want to ever have participation in,” Gohmert says, “it’s a civil war. Some historian, I don’t remember who, said, guns are only involved in the last phase of a civil war.”

As a good liberal blogger, I think I’ll just google: “Bill Clinton supporters threaten civil war if president is impeached.”

Yeah.

Nothing.

No one talked about civil war.

HAS ANY PRESIDENT ever been involved in as many court battles in office (and before) as Trump?

Monday, the Second U.S. District Court of Appeals rules that a lower court order, requiring the president’s accountants to turn over his tax and business records, as part of an investigation into possible campaign law violations and fraud, should stand. Next stop: The U.S. Supreme Court.

The president’s lawyers had argued that a president – any president – is immune from any and all types of investigation while in office.

Another court win for the people of the United States could be shaping up. Lev Parnas, who had been toiling away with Rudy Giuliani in Ukraine – only to be arrested – has signaled through his lawyer that he will comply with a subpoena from the House Intelligence Committee.

According to Joseph A. Bondy, his new lawyer (Parnas had to fire his old attorney), “Mr. Parnas was very upset by President Trump’s plainly false statement that he did not know him.” Parnas has claimed to have had extensive business dealings and contacts with the president. So, if the House wants documents, Parnas will produce them. If they want testimony, Parnas will speak – the only caveat being that he will retain his right to plead the Fifth.

Meanwhile, former Trump campaign gadfly, Roger Stone, is also battling federal charges in court. Stone has been accused of perjury, witness tampering, and general skullduggery. A good liberal never shouts, “Lock him/or her up!” till the evidence is heard and a jury has rendered a verdict.

Still, something tells me both Parnas and Stone may soon be joining the Team Trump Felons’ Club.

WE ALSO LEARN TUESDAY that Mr. Trump has added another grifter to his team. Paula White will now be offering advice as part of a White House “Faith and Opportunity” initiative.

My comments here are not meant as an attack on religion, generally, or Christianity, in particular. A good liberal supports the right of Christians to worship as they please. Jews, Sikhs, Muslims, and Mormons are also cool.

Send those “First Fruits” to Pastor White.

It is not an attack on religion, however, to point out that Pastor White is exactly the kind of charlatan one would expect to find joining Team Trump. First, she’s been married three times, which is kind of a thing with Trump and his crew. Second, as a disciple of Jesus, she goes in big for the perks that come from preaching the Gospel. At one point, she and her second husband lived in a Tampa Bay mansion worth $2 million. They also owned a condo worth several million more – in Trump Tower New York City. Ms. White is much like Trump when it comes to diligent pursuit of Mammon. She preaches the “prosperity gospel,” which holds that God wants his faithful to find wealth and health. One way to prove one’s faith is to send “First Fruits” to Ms. White.

God be praised!

And bank accounts!!

“Each January,” she wrote in one missive to fans, “I put God first and honor Him with the first of our substance by sowing a first fruits offering of one month’s pay. That is a big sacrifice,” she admitted. “But it is a seed for the harvest I am believing for in the coming year. And God always provides!”

(Certainly, God always provides for White, so long as her credulous followers fall for her shtick.)

The results, White promised, would be “miraculous,” whether followers sowed a month’s pay, a week’s pay, or a day’s pay. “First Fruits has impacted my life personally and the lives of countless others!” she wrote. “First Fruits is more than just an offering … it’s a principle.”

“I don’t want pie in the sky by and by,” she likes to tell congregants. “I want some ham where I am.”

As White tells it, her life is proof God rewards those who worship Him. She has gone from “a pit to a palace,” from childhood poverty to phenomenal success all by bilking suckers. (She doesn’t say that, of course.) Then again, there was a detour in 2012, when the ministry she and her second husband ran filed for bankruptcy. Allegedly, they stiffed the Evangelical Christian Credit Union for $29 million in loans, which I think we can all agree would not please Jesus.

Still, it’s easy to see why the president might want to have White around, particularly now that he’s facing impeachment. According to her interpretation of the Bible, you can’t oppose him anyway.

Even in the early days of Trump’s presidency, she was arguing,

He is authentically whether people like it or not has been raised up by God. Because God says that he raises up and places all people in places of authority. It is God who raises up a king. It is God that sets one down. When you fight against the plan of God, you are fighting against the hand of God.

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, once questioned White and her Gospel interpretations. Since getting to know her in the wake of Trump’s election, he’s become a fan. He, White, and other members of the “Faith and Opportunity” initiative are working with Trump and his staff. “We’re there to influence public policy and move this nation forward,” Perkins says, “where faith is openly welcomed, so that you don’t have to hide the fact that you’re a person of faith.”

Well, then, more power to Perkins and all people of faith in the world, including Druids. But can someone explain? If God raises Trump up, and we can’t “fight against the plan of God,” doesn’t the logic hold for every ruler, past, present, and to come? Here, you have Ms. White restating the theory of “divine right of kings.” In the 1600s and 1700s, Christian kings often argued that absolute power was vested in their hands and the common folk had no right to complain.

God chose them to rule.

That doctrine, of course, was refuted by, among others, the Founding Fathers of this nation, in 1787.

Also, what’s the address if I want to send in “First Fruits?”

F**king mountain men!

White isn’t the only minister warning that if the president is impeached, all the fiends in hell will break loose. Pastor Rick Wiles has explained that Trump fans are “guys who knew how to fight.” And they are “going to make a decision” and go to war for Trump and Jesus and fat tax cuts for billionaires and a really big wall. “Veterans,” he said, would rise up. And “cowboys!”

And f**king “mountain men!!”

Wiles did not use the “f-word,” but, really, he should have.

Like Louis Gohmert, he sounds nuts.

Cowboys are coming!

BLISTERING BOOK REVIEW: David Robinson’s review of Pastor White’s most recent book, in Christian Today, offers proof that it’s not just liberals who think she’s a fraud. Robinson describes Something Greater as “cringe-worthy” in its narcissism. The book is “profoundly dishonest” and “shallow.” White shows a total lack of “self-awareness.” Her materialism and spending on herself, he finds “grotesquely sinful.”

Robinson lambasts Pastor White for what a non-religious person might see as garden-variety greed.

The obsession with money, wealth, power and influence is a real problem in the Church. We seem to think that Jesus did not mean it when he said we cannot serve both God and Mammon (Matthew 6:24).

But that does not stop Paula from manipulating people. In a recent telethon she devoted her preaching to convincing them to send money to help Jim Bakker build a new TV studio. “Right now,” you  can watch her shout, “someone is about to send you [she means Rev. Bakker] that $1 million cheque in the name of Jesus, you [the viewer] just have to be obedient, whether it’s $100,000 or $10,000 you send.”

She says that there is a “Department of Treasury in Heaven” which will write up your name. It’s just a straight-out blasphemous lie.

“The self-justification for greed is breathtaking,” Robinson says. White’s book, he says, is “Trumpesque” in its focus on cashing in with the help of Jesus and in how White focuses on White as the center of the universe.

“After spending time around Donald Trump,” White writes at one point in her book, “I find myself inspired by his vision, thought process, keen insight, and overall discipline. He’s a brilliant thinker who tends to walk several steps ahead of the masses. I want to share his wisdom with the world in my own way.”

Send $19.44 to Amazon right now and get your copy of White’s book. I am thinking, if you read it, and send her “First Fruits,” you will soon find your pockets crammed with cash.

November 22, 2019: A "Jew Coup" and a Fool Talks about Hong Kong

11/22/19: How are Trump and his allies handling impeachment pressure? The president’s not doing well; but Televangelist Rick Wiles is even more upset than the Orange Chosen One. Having studied all the evidence and weighed the constitutional issues with care, Wiles announces that the whole impeachment inquiry is a…“Jew Coup,” thereby mixing ignorance with anti-Semitism. It’s a common problem with right-wing nuts of several kinds. (See, also: 12/5/19.)

*

THE PRESIDENT refuses to say whether he’ll sign legislation passed by Congress in support of pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong.

Any ordinary president would have signed the bill without hesitation. But for Trump, all moral questions are solved by totaling losses and gains. If he can get a good trade deal with China (and by that we mean a deal he can brag about) he won’t care if the people of Hong Kong lose all their freedoms.

Knowing the bill has bi-partisan support (it passed unanimously in the Senate and on a vote of 417-1 in the House), he tries to have his cake and hog it too. In a rambling interview on Fox & Friends, he tells the hosts, “I stand with Hong Kong. I stand with freedom. I stand with all of the things we want to do. But we’re also in the process of making the largest trade deal in history.”

Trump still has a soft spot for China’s President Xi. He’s “an incredible guy,” our freedom-loving president says, and “a friend of mine.”

Xi Jinping, now president for life.

In a bizarre segue, Trump tells the Fox dopes that if it weren’t for him, his friend, President Xi, might have launched a bloody crackdown (shades of Tiananmen Square). The Chinese military might have marched into the city and killed “thousands” of people. “If it weren’t for me, Hong Kong would have been obliterated in 14 minutes,” he said. Yeah, boy, that Xi! He’s an “incredible guy,” “and a friend of mine,” even if Trump did have to stop him from slaughtering everyone in Hong Kong!

(Does this kind of discussion make any sense to Trump fans? Am I not speaking the right language?)

December 5, 2019: Pastor Rick Wiles is Ready for Civil War

12/5/19: The president and the First Lady light the National Christmas Tree. Trump manages to count down, “five, four, three, two, one,” without losing count. The First Lady pushes the button on cue.

The lights come on, as they have every year, starting in 1923.

“A violent civil war in America fought between the pagan left and the religious right.”

Rev. Rick Wiles

____________________

We know there’s at least one good Christian gentleman who isn’t satisfied with ornaments, tinsel, and lights. On his nightly program on TruNews, Pastor Rick Wiles tells his audience that he’s stockpiling ammunition for the civil war to come. He’s ready to start blasting if Trump is impeached and removed from office.

In the true spirit of “Second Amendment” Jesus, Wiles warns,

Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, Eliot Engel, Brad Sherman, and Charles Schumer are compelling calm, law-abiding, middle-class American citizens to prepare for the unthinkable: a violent civil war in America fought between the pagan left and the religious right. Their actions are compelling me and others to immediately get ready to defend our families, our personal lives, and our properties if violence erupts in America over the impeachment and ouster of President Trump.

Wiles continues his tirade: “The Democrats are forcing me to stockpile ammunition, food, water, and medical supplies to defend my family, home, and church. This is a bad dream that won’t end, and it’s brought to you by the Trump haters.”

“I strongly encourage you to take immediate action to prepare your home and family [emphasis added] for the worst,” Wiles tells listeners. “Don’t foolishly dismiss my warning that a revolution could erupt, or widespread civil disruptions, even civil war.”

Not only is Pastor Wiles an anti-Semite (see: 11/21-22/19), and a man willing to stir one fraction of Americans to kill the other fraction, he’s f**king nuts.

Hit shows on TruNews include:

“Tom Brady is sleeping with a witch.”

Plus, an episode meant to alert diners to the fact that Impossible Burgers are the “work of Luciferians!”

Forget "turn the other cheek."

Now it's "lock and load."

BLOGGER’S NOTE (4/22/20: Pastor Wiles was still ranting and raving two years later, during the pandemic. He was a boisterous foe of vaccines, warning that people who got the shots were “committing suicide,” once even insisting that if you had the shots, they injected “an egg that hatches into a synthetic parasite that grows inside your body.” (See: October 21, 2021.)

Pastor Wiles contracted the virus himself and ended up doing a stint in the hospital – not at his regular pulpit.

And you just know that some of the faithful, who listened to this bozo, took his advice, avoided the vaccinations, and booked a premature trip to heaven.

April 12, 2021: Pastor Rick Wiles Warps the Message of Jesus

4/12/21: Pastor Rick Wiles has scuttled out from behind his pulpit to offer up argument that Dr. Anthony Fauci should be “waterboarded” until he admits that he has been working with China to create and spread COVID-19.

Ever get the feeling people like Wiles just want your money?

____________________

If you’re against Trump, Pastor Wiles wants to kill you.

____________________

Rev. Wiles has a proclivity for “waterboarding” people with whom he disagrees….and for making hateful, inflammatory comments.

He seems to believe that violence would clean up a lot of problems for his idol, President Trump. Jesus, I suppose, said “turn the other cheek, but shoot and waterboard those m****r-f****rs first.

In 2019, Wiles was all gung ho for Donald J. Trump, fuming,

Former FBI Director Andrew McCabe and former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein  should they be taken to Guantanamo Bay and waterboarded? This was an ongoing coup, and so there’s another two names that need to go to Guantanamo Bay  the two members of the Cabinet. Now we don’t know who these people were because he’s not disclosed it. I mean we could  we can speculate, I mean it could be [former Secretary of State] Rex Tillerson. It could have been, may have been [former Attorney General] Jeff Sessions. It could have been [former U.N. Ambassador] Nikki Haley. We don’t know! But there were, according to McCabe, two people in the Cabinet who were willing to overthrow the President of the United States. That means the President of the United States was holding Cabinet meetings, and he had snakes sitting around him. Hissing snakes!

In fact, the “virtue” of torture is that you can get people to admit anything, and there you go. You have the confessions you want.

And bullets might also work, Wiles has suggested. Upset last summer by the riots in Portland, he had a plan:

“Mr. Meadows [White House Chief of Staff], please tell President Trump that he is now in possession of Obama bullets — 2 billion ‘Bama bullets. You’re in possession of them now,” Wiles said. “You got the ‘Bama bullets and you can put down the [insurrection] … you can put it down. You have the ‘Bama bullets in your hands.”

Where did these bullets come from? According to Wiles, they were “hoarded” by Obama “to round up Christians and constitutionalists under a President Hillary Clinton.”

As Newsweek reported:

Wiles has a history of making incendiary remarks. In March 2020, he claimed that God was “spreading” COVID-19 in synagogues as punishment for Jews opposing “his son, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

“You’re a liar!” Wiles said, directing his remarks at Fauci in the episode last Thursday. “You know what you did, Fauci. You worked with the Chinese Communist Party for years. And you used our own taxpayer money to work on a coronavirus with bats. And you did it behind our backs, deceiving the American people, and you participated in the creation of this virus.”

Wiles said that Fauci “should be taken to Guantánamo Bay and waterboarded” until he coughs up “the truth.” Fauci must also give the names of “the other traitors who have helped China damage the United States of America with this virus,” the pastor said.

Wiles also offered up a few thoughts on “election reform.”

“They’re gonna have a bunch of traitors. They’re gonna line ’em up against the wall and start shooting them. Because that’s what they deserve,” the pastor said at the time.

“The Democrats, the news media – if  the leftists, if scientists, professors have been working secretly with the Chinese Communist Party,” Wiles continued, “then line ’em up against the wall and shoot them. That’s what you do with them.”

Wiles finished up (a few days later) with an anti-Semitic diatribe, somehow conflating communism (adamantly anti-religious) with Zionist Jews and even tipping his cap to QAnon in the process:

“The reason the ruling deep state of America hates the Russian people and wants to destroy them? It is the satanic Zionist power that overthrew the Russian government in 1917, did a human blood sacrifice of the Romanov family – a satanic ritual where they slaughtered the Romanovs, it was a satanic blood sacrifice – that same group of satanists that overthrew the Russian people in 1917, that’s what controls America today. That spirit right there is what is destroying the United States of America, destroying our freedom, destroying our culture – that spirit right there.

Ah, yes, the message of Jesus. (See: 6/2/21.)

June 2, 2021: Donald Trump Jr. Will Record a Personalized Video Just for You

6/2/21: Pastor Rick Wiles, who said vaccines for COVID-19 were part of Satan’s plot, gets COVID-19 and ends up hospitalized.

When people make fun of the poor man, a church spokesman warns that mockers are paving their path to hell. (See: 4/12/21.)

*

SPEAKING OF mockery, if you have $525 (or more) you can pay Donald J. Trump Jr. to create a personalized video for you or a loved one.

For example, “Happy birthday, Marge. You don’t look a day over 40. Dad and I wish you many more.”

Cha-ching. That will be $525.

Don Jr. also promises that a portion of the loot he rakes in will go to charity; but we already know what happens when Trumps run charities.

You, hey you! Send me your money.

We also learn that Hunter Biden is hoping to sell paintings he’s been doing for high prices. Normally, the right-wing types are all in favor of capitalism. If the people who own Walmart have billions, and pay workers minimum wage, that is how the system was meant to operate. But Hunter Biden cashing in? This outrages Jason Chaffetz, at Fox News, and all the other folks who sell outrage as a staple of right-wing “news.” In fact, you can’t cram all the outrage into one show. So you need a second. Then a third. Then, for fun, you can mix in a story about how Hunter’s dad is senile.

My liberal heart tells me: Don’t be a dope. Don’t buy Hunter Biden’s art, even if the price is cheap. In fact, if someone is willing to pay $500,000 for a work the president’s son painted, in finger paints, leftover house paint, or whatever, I might argue this is proof we need to raise taxes on the Top 1%. I’d also say, don’t pay Don Jr. to record your birthday greeting to your wife.

(Also, don’t make Secret Service agents pay to stay at Trump resorts while they guard the ex-president.)

Hunter Biden's art show.

FUN FACT – IF YOU ARE A CEO: According to the Economic Policy Institute, during the pandemic, CEO compensation at 350 major corporations increased nearly 16%. Did you get a 16% raise in the last year?

I am betting you did not. The average worker’s pay “shot up” 1.8%. Just as God and the Republicans and Fox News intended.

October 21, 2021: COVID-19 Deaths - Doctors vs. Scam Artists

10/21/21: If you haven’t bothered to check, the United States is still leading the world in coronavirus deaths. Cruel shouts of, “We’re #1! We’re #1!”

India is in second place.

In terms of deaths per million population, Worldometers reports that the U.S. is also among the worst:

Peru:                           5,956

N. Macedonia:            3,366

Bulgaria:                     3,320

For comparison, across the border to our north, the death rate is 1/3, and Germany’s death rate is 1/2 ours. I include Finland and Norway (below) for fun since both countries offer socialized medicine.

In both South Korea and Japan people routinely mask up and leadership took the pandemic seriously from the start. Ireland and the U.S. were tied for deaths per million last summer, but we’ve long since passed the Irish by. Sweden tried for “herd immunity.” Then the Swedes realized that was a terrible mistake. They’ve got free and universal healthcare, too, by the way.

Sweden:                      1,469

WE KNOW many members of the Trump cult are adamantly opposed to vaccinations, or wearing masks, or using Kleenex to blow their noses. This week, Dr. Francis Collins, longtime head of the National Institute of Health, explained that data showed getting vaccinated was one of the best ways to protect those who can’t get vaccinated, including children.

“This is a chance to love your family – and love your neighbor,” Collins wrote.

As ABC noted,

Collins reiterated that studies have shown vaccinated individuals are significantly less likely to spread coronavirus to family members within a household. He cited a Swedish study published in JAMA Internal Medicine Journal last week that looked at 1.8 million people from more than 800,000 families “who acquired immunity from either previous COVID-19 infection or full vaccination.”

“The data show,” Collins wrote, “that people without any immunity against COVID-19 were at considerably lower risk of infection and hospitalization when other members of their family had immunity, either from a natural infection or vaccination.”

Specifically, the study found that households with one immune family member had a 45% to 61% lower risk of a COVID-19 infection, and that when a household included two immune family members the risk dropped 75% to 86%. With three or more immune family members, the risk of infection dropped almost 97%.

“These results show quite clearly that vaccines offer protection for individuals who lack immunity, with important implications for finally ending this pandemic,” Collins wrote.

Anti-vaxxers immediately claimed that Dr. Collins was lying. ABC was lying. The only person you could really trust when making decisions about medical care was Alex Jones. And they would rather get smallpox or rabies or herpes, or all three, than put vaccines into their blood.

And pass the Ivermectin!

Right-wing nutjob Pastor Rick Wiles insisted that everyone at NIH hated God, and that if we got vaccines, they “put an egg that hatches into a synthetic parasite that grows inside your body.”

“Give me leprosy, or give me death,” one QAnon believer was heard to shout.

Okay, sorry, I made that last part up.

Except about Wiles.

FUN FACT – WITH CRAZY PERSONS: Right-wing media type Candace Owens came up with a creative plan to stop the spread of the mask-wearing, shot-getting, stop-the-spread-of-disease threat to the world. Insisting that the people of Australia were “suffering under a totalitarian regime,” she wondered when we would send in U.S. troops to free Australians from their masks.

According to Worldometers, Australia has suffered 62 deaths per million from COVID-19. Whereas with the aid of people like Wiles and Owens and Alex Jones, spreading their daily disinformation, the U.S. has a rate of 2,260 per million, or more than 36 times as high.
