November 6, 2017: Massacre at Sutherland Springs - Thoughts and Prayers Don't Cut It

11/6/17: Twenty-six Americans, ages 5-72, do not wake up today to worry about border walls or transgender people using the same bathrooms.

They do not wake up at all.

Yesterday, a gunman armed with a military-style Ruger AR-15, the weapon of choice for modern psychopaths, shoots up a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. The toll, including wounded, rises to 46. What an unspeakable tragedy.

What will Republican leaders do, now that they control all levers of power, to make a change?

They will do nothing.

It will be the same again, again and again, somewhere in blood-soaked America, and all too soon.

Thoughts and prayers will be offered. That won’t quite do. Somehow, Trump and the GOP believe we should spend $21.6 billion (possibly three times that much) to build a “big, beautiful wall” along our southern border. That will keep the “criminals” out. Yet we can’t lift a legislative finger to staunch the carnage in our churches, schools, and streets. And the criminals are already here.
